Our Story

Typoze.com was founded by avid readers who are tired of seeing typos, grammar errors and factual mistakes in books, novels and textbooks. Our website was designed to enable readers to report the typos they find, giving them the opportunity to make their own contributions to improving the overall quality of published material. Additionally, we want to give visitors to our site the chance to review, recommend and discuss books with each other. Although we are in the early stages of working with authors and publishers, we are dedicated to ensuring that your corrections are included into subsequent editions. We are committed to providing each and every reader with the typoze experience so come on in and let us know about the typos you find, and together we can change the literary world one word at a time...

  • Beyond entering typos
We strive to leverage existing web technologies to come up with innovative ideas that go beyond thinking outside the box. While we recognize that user communities can act as the piston that powers our Typoze.com operation, we also believe that the same user communities can help facilitate our dream of lifting book discussions to another level of social learning in which people of all ages can contribute to the exchange of ideas and intellectual interdependence.
  • Review and comment on books
At Typoze.com we ask readers simple questions about books in order to facilitate focused and thought provoking reviews. This gives other interested readers a more expansive array of unique-commentary to select from as opposed to sifting through hundreds of reviews that basically revolve around a single thought.
  • Participate in social learning
Readers, particularly students, aren't just answering questions at Typoze.com, they can also ask the questions that will drive discussions on topics and concepts found in textbooks. For example, a student at NYU can ask a question about an algorithm in her computer science textbook. That evening a student at UCLA reading the same book sees the question and shares his thoughts.
  • Find corrections
It may turn out that the NYU student in the example above found a typo or error in the algorithm. As a member of Typoze.com she can then report the error and propose the correction based on collaborative feedback from the UCLA student and others who have found the same error. So the next student that questions the algorithm can visit Typoze.com, look up the book and see an errata list of errors and proposed corrections that has been generated by students around the world reading the same book. We also encourage professors and textbook authors to visit Typoze.com to get updates on corrections and also to participate in discussions with their students.

We perceive Web 2.0 as having birthed two incredible technologies that we all enjoy every day: interaction through social networks and the empowerment of people to spread knowledge they possess with wikis. By extending these principles, we believe success can be achieved by providing a medium by which readers, authors and publishers can interact and utilize community-generated information.
